Privacy Policy

Data controller: Hasan Karaca (sole trader) · helpdesk.gauger@gmail.com
App: Gauger (com.gauger.app)
1. In short
Gauger measures your car's performance using your phone's sensors. Where you are (latitude/longitude) never leaves your device. What reaches our server is a run's results and its detail traces (speed, altitude and acceleration profiles) — these describe the run's motion, not where it happened. Your account, your measurements and your identity on the leaderboard are yours; you can delete all of them from inside the app.
2. What we collect
Account details — received from Google when you sign in, and stored:
- your name (used as your display name on the leaderboard),
- your email address,
- your Google user ID,
- the address (URL) of your profile picture,
- your device's region code (e.g. TR) — for the flag on the leaderboard.
Measurement data — for every run you save:
- the measurement type and its results (times, trap speed, peak speed),
- the speed-versus-time curve (downsampled, a limited number of points),
- the altitude profile — how elevation changed over the run (not latitude/longitude),
- the acceleration profile — forward acceleration read from the phone's accelerometer,
- the road's grade (a percentage derived from the elevation change),
- signal quality (GPS speed accuracy),
- when the measurement was taken.
Subscription — if you subscribe, its status and expiry date. We never see your payment details; Google Play takes the payment.
3. What we do not collect
- Latitude/longitude — where you are. The coordinates that would place you somewhere stay on your phone; they are never sent and never stored. Speed is read from GPS Doppler, not computed from position. The altitude and acceleration profiles that do reach the server describe the run's motion, not where it happened.
- Your payment details. Card data never reaches us.
- Your contacts, photos or messages. We never access them.
- We do not access the advertising ID, we show no ads, and we do no tracking.
About device identifiers. Our subscription infrastructure (RevenueCat) receives technical device identifiers; they are used to match your subscription to the right device and account. We do not have access to that data and it is not used for advertising.
4. Why we collect it
- Account details: so that you can sign in, so your measurements stay yours when you change phones, and so you have an identity on the leaderboard and on your profile card.
- Measurement data: so we can show your runs back to you, so you can replay them, and so they can be ranked when you send them to the leaderboard. For a run you send to the leaderboard we show its grade and signal quality publicly — the conditions a time was set in are part of that time.
- Subscription status: to unlock your premium features.
5. What is public
When you send a run to the leaderboard, and only then: your name (or the nickname you chose), your country flag, and that run's time, interval, peak speed, grade, signal quality and date become public. No run you have not sent to the leaderboard is visible to anyone. Your profile card only opens once you have an entry on the leaderboard.
Your email address is never public.
6. Who we share it with
We do not sell data. Only the providers that run the service process it:
- Google Sign-In — to verify your identity (Google's privacy policy applies).
- Google Play Billing — to collect the subscription.
- RevenueCat — to manage subscription status; it also receives technical device identifiers alongside your account ID.
Our server is our own, hosted in Türkiye. Data is transmitted encrypted over HTTPS/TLS.
7. How long we keep it
Your measurements are kept until you delete them or close your account. When you delete your account, your account, your session keys, all of your runs and your leaderboard entries are permanently deleted.
8. How to exercise your rights
- Delete a single run: Garage → open the run → Delete.
- Leave the leaderboard: delete the run; its leaderboard entry goes with it.
- Delete your account and all your data: Settings → Account → Delete my account. Your account, your session keys, your runs and your leaderboard entries are deleted immediately and permanently. Your subscription continues on Google Play — you must cancel it there before deleting; we cannot cancel it for you.
- Requesting deletion without installing the app: the account deletion page.
- Access, rectification, objection (GDPR, and KVKK Art. 11 in Türkiye): via the email address above.
9. Children
Gauger is intended for drivers and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13.
10. Changes
If this policy changes, the date on this page is updated; for a significant change we also tell you inside the app.
